why i started this blog...

About 6 months ago i heard about Jessica Alba's new business venture - The Honest Company. Her idea's and products intrigued me but being on the other side of the world, i had no access to try them for myself. Then came her book - The Honest Life. The book detailed her life growing up with allergies and intolerance to food, cosmetics and chemicals. She explained in layman's terms the in's and outs of various chemicals and how they affect people, along with which products they are commonly found in. It's an amazing book and has loads of great information about the lifestyle she and her family have adapted for the sake of their health and environment.

Now, i'll admit i'm not on the tree hugging vegan eating end of the eco-friendly scale, but i can relate to Jessica's situation. I grew up with allergies and food intolerance's  although not quite as severe as hers but it lead to a restricted diet in my teens. Along came my daughter and right off the bat she developed CMPI (Cow's Milk Protein Intolerance), and later we discovered sensitivities to soy, wheat, gluten, citrus fruits and tomatoes. On top of which she was and still is the world's fussiest eater, which makes a restricted diet hard to stick to. It's quite common to crave foods we should not eat and my daughter's favorite foods are the worst foods she can have, bread, cake, doughnuts, cheese and yogurt.

But Jessica Alba's book really started me thinking about how i could improve my eco-friendly-bility. I was already doing small things around the home without even realisign it. Like making DIY cleaners using ingredients from the pantry, or buying organic fruit and vegetables where i could. I usually stay away from non-organic meat as the flavor of organic is so addictive, once you start you simply cannot go back!

So i decided to start this blog to share what i have learnt and what i continue to learn on the way. I'm hoping to share DIY recipes, recommend products and possibly even a few clean eating(something else i'm passionate about) recipes along the way.

So please join me on my journey to "Keeping It Klean".
